NDK prep
It’s that time of year again to start preparing for Nan Desu Kan (NDK). This will be my fourth year, and every year I forget how much preparation goes into a three day event. Innovatory needs counted and more stock ordered. Signage needs updated and hardcover books need their edges sprayed. Bookmarks need to be printed, table clothes need to be purchased, books needs to signed and stickers need to be placed. That’s just the physical materials for the convention, that doesn’t cover booking the hotel, getting the car prepped for a long drive, and everything else that goes into a trip, such as planning childcare and pet sitters. I would do more events, but I feel like it takes me a whole year to physically recover just from NDK.
But I do love it.
Going back to NDK feels like a family reunion, but one that you are excited about. I see the same vendors as the previous years and we catch up on how that family is doing and business. NDK employees have to buy the next book in the series before we are open to the public. I love greeting my fans and getting to talk to them about what they love about my books and who they are sharing my stories with. I can only hope that this year will be no different and will be another good time at NDK.
What is new?
George is back to recording Son of Tenshi, book 3 of my Fallen Angel series! It is so good to have him voicing Tenshi again, along with the rest of the cast. He has told me multiple times in our correspondence how much he just loves performing these characters. He is Tenshi, he really is and I am so glad that he is apart of this journey to bring my work to you all in audio format.
So far, he has about a 1/3 of the book recorded. I hope to have an audio sample for you soon and estimated release date. If you haven’t listened to the audiobook version, now is a great time to catch up on books 1 and 2. You can do so through this link, here.
Audiobook review
The audiobook for Iron Blood has it’s first review and I am over the moon happy. Doro Jillings, my narrator, did an amazing job and deserves all the credit for how well this book came out. If you would like to support mine and Doro’s work you can purchase the audiobook here, through this link.
Thank you to everyone who downloaded the audiobook for Iron Blood. All of the free codes are now gone for the U.S. market. I still have U.K. codes for anyone interested.
Fallen Angel review
Another great review is for my Fallen Angel series, book 1, Tenshi and The Comb of Izanami. This one comes from Kobo and it is so good that I just have to share it.
Now is all fairness, when us authors write a book we not only want people to like it and enjoy it, but we (at least I do) hope that someone gets it. I just love this review, because whoever left it, totally got what I was trying to do with Tenshi and his story. I am so proud of this book and what it has accomplished, not just in awards, but in touching people’s hearts.
And as a general reminder, reviews help our book get seen. This book will be free on Kobo from July 21-27.
Writing update
I Was A Stranger has hit 39,084 words! I am pretty happy about that. I am trying to get as much work on it as I can during the summer before school and NDK prep fully take over my schedule. I’ve been making profile collages of my main characters and sharing them on my Instagram. Here they are for your viewing. I hope this gives a since of what the book will be like and the character’s personalities.
I am still sorting out the release date for this book, so stay tuned.
